What Happens During Registry Maintenance?

Overview

The .CO Registry may occasionally take portions of the system offline for maintenance. Understanding what is affected and how you will be notified helps you plan accordingly.

What Is Affected During Maintenance

  • EPP server: may be temporarily unavailable.
  • Registrar Console: may be temporarily unavailable.
  • FTP server: may be temporarily unavailable.
  • DNS resolution: NEVER affected. Domains already registered continue to resolve normally during maintenance.

Notification Process for Planned Maintenance

  1. Registrars receive advance email notification of planned maintenance. Ensure your account has a valid 'Operations' email address configured to receive these alerts.
  2. The Registry notifies Registrars at the start of the maintenance window.
  3. The Registry notifies Registrars when maintenance is complete.

Unplanned Outages

Registrars are also notified of any unscheduled outages as soon as possible.

Setting Your Operations Email

Log in to the Registrar Console and navigate to Account Settings. Ensure the Operations/notifications email address is accurate and monitored by your team.
